Importing equipment? Start with the landed cost, not the invoice

The supplier price is only the beginning. Freight, duty, GST, compliance, insurance and delivery can materially change the amount that must be funded.

The supplier invoice is only one part of the cost. Before you pay a deposit, allow for exchange-rate changes, freight, insurance, duty, import GST and local delivery. Some equipment may also need inspection, cleaning, approval or installation after it arrives.

Road vehicles generally need approval before they are imported, and machinery can be held for biosecurity checks. Please speak with us early. We can look at the full amount you may need to fund and whether the proposed timing is realistic.
